A Special Hornet ACGG Firearm #24

A Special Hornet. This Winchester Low Wall Takedown version is 22 Hornet stocked by Al Lind in a modified special single shot style (used for target shooting and small game). The American Black Walnut stock is a super exhibition crotch grain checkered in 24 lpi in a modified point pattern with mullered borders and a ribbon in the forearm. Length of pull is 14-1/4" to a steel Swiss buttplate in keeping with standard special single shot dimensions.
The dedicated scoped rifle has a Unertl 8x 1-1/4" varmint scope and Unertl rings. Damascus steel inserts made by Roger Ferrell are in the schnabel forend and grip cap with miniature hornets in the Damascus instead of the traditional ebony. Hank Knickermeyer forged the Damascus steel used for the stock and forend inserts. The half-octagonal 28" barrel is cold rust blued, and the buttplate, hammer, falling block, lever and scope bases are case colored. All external screws and the trigger are nitre blued. The action is French greyed and inserts are browned. The metalwork and all metal coloring was done by Roger Ferrell. The engraving by Jerome Glimm is a subdued and tasteful scroll with the ACGG logo on the buttplate.
Included with the Huey oak and leather case (with traditional turn screws, brush and oil bottle) is a Damascus knife also crafted by Hank Knickmeyer with a wood handle from the stockwood. The Damascus hornets are visible throughout the blade.
